Jeff Schell, an accomplished entrepreneur and patent attorney, merged his law practice with a prominent national law firm in 2018 following a successful exit from a medical device business. Jeff graduated from Northwestern University in 2004 with degrees in Engineering and Economics. He later obtained his JD along with master’s degrees in International Studies and Medical Informatics. Additionally, Jeff pursued further studies in economics at Harvard University.

After securing several pivotal patents in women’s health testing, Jeff Schell successfully guided Proov to achieve millions in revenue and completed a Series A funding round with a post-money valuation of approximately $40 million.
TranS1 – CEO
Following the acquisition of over 50 patent and trademark assets from NASDAQ-listed TranS1 after its unsuccessful merger, Jeff added more than 25 additional patent and trademark filings. During his tenure as CEO, he led the spinal implant company to its first cash flow positive operations, ultimately achieving an eight-figure exit.
Rocky Mountain Patent – Founder
As the founder of the well-regarded patent law firm Rocky Mountain Patent, Jeff merged the practice with a major national firm in 2018 after successfully exiting a separate medical device venture. He then led the growth practice for the national firm for several years before returning to solo practice with Schell IP, where he continues to lead and advise various ventures.
